SANDBLASTING
Abrasive Blast Cleaning
Sandblasting is one of the most effective ways to quickly remove paint, rust, and other foreign materials. It is a flexible preparation method that creates a surface with fewer physical imperfections. It also provides a uniform or etched surface that increases the mechanical and chemical bond to future coatings.
There are many different media available for the abrasive blasting process. They range from highly abrasive to more mild variants—comparable to sandpaper grits 36 up to 220. We will recommend the best media for your sandblasting or coating project, whether you’re looking to make a rough surface smooth or vice versa.
SANDBLASTING PROCESS
The sandblasting process is composed of three major components—the blasting nozzle, compressed air, and abrasive media. “Sand” or “media” are general terms that describe the tiny bits of solid materials that get the job done. This abrasive media is forced through a high-pressure nozzle using pressurized air.
BEFORE WE COAT
The most crucial element of any powder coating project is surface preparation. Sandblasting removes surface imperfections, such as old paint, rust, or mill scale. You need a uniform, etched surface to achieve maximum bond to the coating.
