At Joliet’s Route 66 Raceway this weekend is a major drag racing event for the season.

Car driver Dan Howorth and his team the Budd Road Boys Racing Team has been racing since 1978. Todays car is a 245″ long American Dragster that sports a NOs injected 615 ci that puts out roughly 1500 Horsepower. To qualify for the “Top Dragster” Class of cars, the vehicle must run a quarter mile in UNDER 7.49 seconds. In a pre-race run this morning, the car ran a 6.99 second quarter.
If you are interested in the event, prelims start at 12:30 with the Budd Road Boy’s Fox Valley Sandblasting car running around 2:00 pm. The team is planning on turning up the heat and running a time faster than the 6.99 they ran this morning.
